Consultant in Dental & Maxillofacial Radiology and Clinical Lead at Dundee Dental Hospital. Qualified BDS University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1975. Awarded FDSRCPS Glasgow 1980, MDSc Dundee 1986, DDR.RCR 1994 and FDSRCS Edinburgh 2005.
Honorary Senior Lecturer University of Dundee. Previously Lecturer in Dental Surgery, University of Dundee – lecturing in Dental Radiology and Oral Medicine
Currently, on behalf of NHS Tayside, is Chair of the Management Group of Dundee Dental Education Centre, made up of representatives of the tripartite bodies NHS Tayside, University of Dundee and NHS Education Scotland.
Dr Jan Clarkson BSc, BDS, PhD, FDS(Paed), RCSEdin
Programme Director at the Dental Health Services Research Unit, DHSRU; Director of Scottish Dental Practice Based Research Network, SDPBRN; Director of Scottish Dental Clinical Effectiveness Programme, SDCEP and Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry. As Hospital Dental Services Tutor for NES, she is responsible for the educational training of Senior House Officers, East and North East of Scotland and ensures the quality of teaching and training are evaluated and improvements made and monitored.
Professor William P Saunders - Dean of University of Dundee Dental School
Professor of Endodontology at the University of Dundee. Research interests include broad aspects of Endodontology and Applied Dental materials. Clinical interests are linked mainly to endodontics, especially surgical and non-surgical root canal re-treatment. Currently Chairman of the Education Committee of the European Society of Endodontology. Consultant Editor for the International Endodontic Journal, He is on the refereeing panel for a number of peer-reviewed journals and he sits on the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Dental Faculty. He is Chairman of the Speciality Advisory Board in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal College, responsible for standard setting in the monospecialities of Restorative Dentistry. He is Congress President elect of the European Society of Endodontology for 2009. He has external examinerships in a number of dental schools in the UK and abroad and has lectured and provided hands-on courses throughout the world.
Wendy McCombes BDS, DGDP, MDSc
A graduate of the University of Dundee, established her own practice in Coupar Angus which she operated for 23 years. A Vocational Trainer for 8 years and in 1994 became Tutor for Continued Professional Development in the North East of Scotland. 1998 appointed Regional Vocational Training Adviser for East and North East of Scotland. 2002 appointed as Director of Postgraduate General Dental Practice Education for East and North East of Scotland.
Has been extensively involved in all aspects of general dental practice education. Alongside general responsibilities for Vocational Training and Continued Professional Development in the region has national responsibility for Return to Work training for dentists, Introduction to NHS courses for EU dentists and Supporting Poorly Performing dentists.
Continues to work part time in NHS general practice in Tayside.
